Junior Summer
Show review 2010.
The Extent of My Stupidity play a couple of indie hits with a more professional
sound that the band has developed with the help of Rhys. Great music
played by Callum, Harry and Joe with Rhys on Drums.
Chicken Lickin Pixies of Asia Mark2 play some matured music. Great visuals
on the backdrop, (take note other bands you can do a backdrop next
time if you want) The band has the new addition of keyboards creating
hypnotic melodies throughout the keyboard based songs, a kind of new
wave prog rock vibe coming across in their own song. Jodie came over
very confident sing and playing keyboards, James displayed his technical
ability and Zak was excellent on drums. A great performance.
MBL are first timers at WSRP with Ben in a new band on his 2nd WSRP
term. They played some Green Day songs and do a good job, lead well
by Luke on guitar and sang really well by Matt. Great work all round.
The Wigs have great fun on stage playing a mix of rock and pop songs,
we don't restrict bands to just playing rock at WSRP. But the songs
do come over rocky and sound great. Chloe is again looking natural on
the guitar and confident on stage, Lauren does brilliantly on her first
WSRP show and no surprises that Epi on drums, plays accurately on all
the songs.
Division are brand new at WSRP playing The All American Rejects. Jess
and Emily did well. Considering the extra pressures of playing live
for the first time and only being at WSRP for 5 weeks, they produced
a good result. Jess has a great voice and Emily is talented on the drums.
Can't wait to see how they develop.
Contagious pull off a great confident set with some great songs played
tightly and sung well. Dani's voice comes over well and Toni delivers
the songs very well. Alex, Ross and Joe play as a unit and worked well
together. I am impressed with how good they sound.
Cheesy Riffs play a great version of Black Parade with great dual vocals
from Maisy and Cat, They work really well together. Leannah on drums
has improved so much, playing the song and remaining focussed. Out front
the song came over well. Sam and Luke played the guitar parts well.
Despite Harry not being at the show, the band came over well without
the additional guitar part.
Thanks to all the junior bands and to the Parents for their support
over the term.
